Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) earned his fourth championship top-10 finish in the individual medley, highlighting Sarah Lawrence College men's swimming's performance on day one of the 2016 Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association Championships, hosted by Ithaca College on Wednesday. Action continues through Saturday at the Ithaca Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion.

MARTINEZ PLACES FIFTH IN 200 IMFor the fourth year in a row, Martinez qualified for the finals of the 200 yard individual medley. In the preliminaries, he swam a time of 1:55.63, seeding him fourth in the evening A Final. The Gryphon returned to the pool to take fifth overall in a time of 1:54.39. At previous UNYSCSA Championships, Martinez placed 10th (2013), third ('14) and second ('15) in the event.
GRYPHON RELAYThe Gryphons picked up 24 team points with a 15th-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. Juniors
Nick Ransom (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale) and
Jericho Walker-Roberts (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) teamed with rookies
Dawa Lama (New York, N.Y./The Beacon School) and
Derick Edgren (Fort Collins, Colo./Auburn (Ill.)) to post a time of 1:57.62 in the event.
