Mehran Hicks was named the 2016 men's soccer MVP. He started in 16 games, totaling 1,373 minutes of playing time as goalkeeper. Hicks set a team season record with four wins and totaled 126 saves with a 72.4 save percentage; both figures are second-best in a single season in team history. He earned a double-overtime win after 108 minutes against York (Sept. 10) and led the team to a 1-0 shutout victory over Culinary (Sept. 11). Hicks earned a win after playing first half of 6-2 win over Saint Elizabeth (Sept. 14) before making 14 saves against St. Joseph’s Brooklyn (Sept. 17). He totaled 13 saves against Mount Saint Vincent (Sept. 24) and played a complete game in a 3-2 victory over Medgar Evers (Oct. 10). Hicks totaled a season-high 15 saves at St. Joseph’s Long Island (Oct. 15) and posted 11 saves against Purchase (Oct. 18). He finished the season with 10 saves versus Sage (Oct. 26). In final NCAA Division III national rankings, Hicks finished 14th in saves per game (7.88) and 18th in total saves (126); he also finished the season with the program’s best career goals-against average among keepers with at least 500 minutes played.
