Sarah Lawrence Athletics DEI
Building Belonging Through Athletics
The Sarah Lawrence College Athletics Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) group is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Through intentional programming and campus engagement, the group works to celebrate identity, promote equity, and ensure that the values of respect and representation are woven into the fabric of the athletic experience. Whether raising awareness at games or building connections through dialogue and service, the DEI group plays a key role in advancing the College’s mission of inclusivity.
Making a Difference Through Action
SLC Athletics DEI organizes a wide range of initiatives aimed at education, community building, and social impact. They host monthly dialogues in the BWCC Living Room to create space for open conversations and reflection. The group also plans regular social events—such as game nights and stress relief evenings—as well as special programming like a Women’s History Month movie night. Their presence is felt at athletic events, where they table for causes like Domestic Violence Awareness and Pride. In collaboration with SAAC and Community Partnerships, they lead service opportunities with organizations like YCOP of Yonkers and have participated in major events like SEVA. Each year, the group also recognizes outstanding contributions to inclusion with the annual DEI Award.
