Gabrielle Risica was named a 2016-17 Alice Stone Ilchman Scholar Athlete. In her senior season, she was named to the Skyline All-Conference Second Team (200 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay) and was also named Metropolitan All-Academic. Risica swam in all 12 meets with 211.5 total points, and she contributed to three team relay records. The senior won the 200 backstroke at Cobleskill (Nov. 5) and won the 200 medley relay in dual against Maritime & St. Joseph’s Long Island (Nov. 18). Risica won the 50 freestyle and 200 free relay against St. Joseph’s Brooklyn & Old Westbury (Nov. 19). She qualified as place winner in 100 backstroke, finishing 13th at TCNJ Invitational (Dec. 3). Risica finished the regular season with a win in the 400 medley relay against Staten Island (Jan. 14). She was Skyline runner-up in 200 medley relay and 400 free relay with individual places in 200 backstroke (6th), 100 backstroke (7th) and 50 freestyle (12th). Risica finished her career with 24th place in the 200 backstroke at Metropolitan Championships (Feb. 19).
