Women's soccer player Sadie Zavgren was named HVIAC Rookie of the Week for her performance on offense and defense in a 1-0-1 week for the Gryphons.
In the backfield, the rookie captain anchored a defense that played two scoreless games and held opponents to a combined two shots on the week. On Wednesday, Zavgren notched her first career goal, the Gryphons' second in a win over Medgar Evers. She played complete games in both contests.
Then, on Tuesday, she assisted the game-winning goal by Sofie Jokela, helping the Gryphons clinch a spot in the HVIAC Championship in their first year as a varsity program.
