NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Facing the defending Skyline Conference champions, Sarah Lawrence College women's tennis failed to put a point on the scoreboard, as Mount Saint Mary College blanked the Gryphons, 9-0, in non-conference action at MSMC Tennis Courts on Sunday.

The Knights (2-0, 1-0 Skyline), coming off a 13-3 record last season, including a perfect 6-0 mark against league rivals, took early control against Sarah Lawrence, stealing all three doubles matches handily.

Trailing 3-0, the Gryphons were unable to put up much of a fight against the host Knights. At No. 6 singles, rookie Sarah Fiordaliso (Amherst, N.Y., Sweet Home) endured the pressure, dropping each set by only a single break point in her 6-4, 6-4 loss. Elsewhere, Mount Saint Mary College was able to run the table on Sarah Lawrence and complete the 9-0 sweep of the match.

Sarah Lawrence looks to rebound as the team prepares for a four-match homestand. The Gryphons host Vaughn College on Wednesday and Brooklyn College on Sun., Sept 23 before taking on York College (Sept. 29) and Pratt Institute (Oct. 6) in the coming weeks.
