Sophomores
Caroline Harrison (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) and
Sarah Pyatt (Taos, N.M./Taos) teamed to earn an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles, giving the Gryphons a 2-1 advantage at the start of singles play.
Pyatt posted a mighty triumph in the No. 4 singles match, sweeping her opponent in a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Slade also pulled out a straight-sets victory, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5), in the No. 5 match.
Needing one more point to clinch the match, the Green and White fell short of a win. The Gators won each of the remaining matches in two-sets, handing SLC the 5-4 defeat.
Sarah Lawrence rounds out the 2014 season with what could be the team's season finale on Monday. The Gryphons play host to Skyline foe Purchase College at 6 p.m. on Andrews Courts. There remains one outstanding match on the slate, a showdown against York College that was postponed on Oct. 1, but may or may not be rescheduled.
