Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y.—After tying the game at 2-2, Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer was downed by St. Joseph's College Brooklyn, 9-2, in a non-conference game at Aviator Sports Complex on Friday.
St. Joseph's (2-0) was first on the scoreboard in the 11th minute. Sarah Lawrence (1-1) erased the deficit in the 22nd minute when sophomore
Shannon Sullivan (Templeton, Mass./Narragansett Regional) capitalized on a misplayed rebound to score her second goal of the season.
SJC went ahead again in the 25th minute. Ten minutes later, rookie
Clara Ezcurra (Hurlingham, Argentina/St. Hilda's College) equalized the game again. Senior
Elle Blanchet (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) assisted her second goal of the season by feeding a pass into the box. Ezcurra came away with the ball and found the back of the net to make it a 2-2 game.
From there, St. Joseph's took control and remained in the driver's seat. The Lady Bears opened up a 4-2 halftime lead and racked up seven-straight goals while holding the Gryphons without a second-half shot.
In goal, sophomore
Addie Rosenberg (New York, N.Y./Fusion Academy) tallied eight saves. SJC's Nicole Farinella stopped one of the Gryphons' three shots on goal.
Sarah Lawrence hosts Medgar Evers College on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, N.Y.
