Women's Soccer Faces Maritime

Box Score Archived Video

YONKERS, N.Y.
—Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer allowed just one goal against the Privateers, but it was enough for Maritime College to defeat the Gryphons, 1-0, in a Skyline game at Tibbetts Brook Park on Monday.

IN SHORT
Maritime (5-6, 2-2 Skyline) def. Sarah Lawrence (3-7, 1-5 Skyline), 1-0.

THE FIRST SHOT
Maritime forced three early corner kicks, but neither team had a shot until the seventh minute, when the Privateers scored the lone goal of the game. Gayle Woods, who has scored the second-most goals in the Skyline this season, fired a shot from the right side near the corner of the 6-yard box. The strike found the inside of the left post for Woods' 11th goal of the season and her second game-winner.

GRYPHONS GET GOING
SLC was held without a shot for nearly half of the first period until Luana DeBorst (Santo Domingo, Costa Rica/European School of Costa Rica) broke the silence with a shot on-goal. Rookies Shira Ungar (Bethesda, Md./Charles E. Smith Jewish Day) and Sophia Spralja (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente) also had shots on-target in the first half, but Maritime keeper Cammie Havens stopped all three efforts.

IN THE SECOND HALF
Sarah Lawrence tallied seven shots in the second half, including three more by Ungar, who led the Gryphons with four. Spralja and DeBorst each recorded their second shot in the period, while Nora Burrows (Titusville, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) contributed two shots in the period.

IN GOAL
Junior Addie Rosenberg (New York, N.Y./Fusion Academy) stopped 12 shots in the game. The Gryphon defense saved goal in the 73rd minute when Maritime served up a corner kick and headed the ball at the left post. The shot would have gone in the net if not for a white jersey in the way.

UP NEXT
Sarah Lawrence plays its final home game on Wednesday when the Gryphons host defending Skyline champion Farmingdale State College.
