NEWBURGH, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College women's tennis was defeated by Mount Saint Mary College, 7-2, in the teams' 2016 Skyline opener at Kaplan Tennis Courts on Saturday.

KEY PLAYERS
Senior Juliet Slade (St. Paul, Minn./Central) played a part in both of the Gryphons' team points. In doubles action, Slade teamed with senior Moni Spanchesca to earn an 8-5 win in the No. 2 match. In individual play, Slade won the No. 3 singles match in comfortable fashion, 6-1, 6-2. The No. 2 singles match saw senior Sarah Pyatt (Taos, N.M./Taos) recover from a first-set loss by winning the second set. In the super-tiebreaker, Pyatt was eventually overcome, 6-4, 3-6, (10-7).
