Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y.—Eva Horstman (Edina, Minn./Edina) scored an equalizer goal to send the game into overtime, but Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer was eventually dismissed by John Jay College, 2-1, in the teams' season opener at Randall's Island Park on Friday.

KEY MOMENTS
John Jay opened the scoring with a first-half goal in the 28th minute, but both defenses stonewalled the opposing forwards as the teams combined for four shots on goal in the first half. In the 72nd minute, rookie Horstman fired a perfectly-placed direct kick into the top half of the goal and equalized the game at 1-1. The Gryphons played back and preserved the deadlock at the end of regulation. Four minutes into extra time, the Bulldogs managed to score the decisive goal to clinch the 2-1 win.

Backed by goals by Sydney Solimani and Cayleen Young, goalkeeper Kelli Doherty earned the win in the Bulldogs' season opener. Alexis Castillo assisted both goals.
UP NEXT
After a nine-day hiatus, the Gryphons will return to action on their home field on Sunday, September 11. Sarah Lawrence hosts a doubleheader with the women's team taking on CCNY at noon and followed by the men's soccer team against Culinary Institute.
