Women’s Soccer Remains Unbeaten in Skyline With 2-0 Win Over Old Westbury

YONKERS, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in Skyline play Tuesday with a 2-0 win over Old Westbury at Tibbetts Brook Park. Lauren Ashby (Syracuse, N.Y./William Nottingham) scored both goals in the team's first-ever victory against the Skyline opponent.

KEY MOMENTS
Ashby put the Gryphons on the board in the 31st minute. The program's all-time goal scorer, Ashby ripped a shot from the left wing to the far right post.

Ashby, named to the Skyline Honor Roll Monday, scored again in the 58th minute. The rookie had her initial shot saved, but collected her own rebound for the finish.

Ashby has accounted for 28 (12g, 4a) of the team's 67 points (26g, 15a) this season, passing Sophia Spralja (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente) (24) to become the program's all-time leading scorer. As a team, Sarah Lawrence has scored 26 goals this season, a new program record.

The Gryphons outshot Old Westbury 15-8, including a 10-2 advantage in attempts on frame.

Madison Mertsch (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) finished with two saves in the victory.

UP NEXT
The Gryphons return to action Saturday (Sept. 23) with a game at Mount Saint Vincent.
