RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team suffered its first conference loss of the season Saturday, dropping a 7-1 decision at Mount Saint Vincent.

The Dolphins scored five of their seven goals in the opening period, including a pair from Kelly Gibison. Mount Saint Vincent got on the board in the 15th minute on a goal from Julia McGowan, followed by a goal from Gibison in the 24th minute off an assist from McGowan. Julia Legget found the back of the net in the 39th minute, followed by Gibison's second goal of the afternoon in the 44th minute. Alicia Forgione scored in the 47th minute, giving Mount Saint Vincent a 5-0 halftime lead.
The Gryphons' lone goal of the contest came in the 54th minute, when
Lauren Ashby (Syracuse, N.Y./William Nottingham) received the ball off a turnover and blasted a shot from 30 yards out for her 13th goal of the season.
Gibison completed a hat trick in the 62nd minute, while Barry Grace scored in the 64th minute.
Mount Saint Vincent dominated possession, outshooting Sarah Lawrence 40-5.
Madison Mertsch (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) had a busy afternoon in goal, making 14 saves in the match.
