BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - Sarah Lawrence first year
Tiffany McBrayer has been named Skyline Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday. The rookie had a fantastic week, recording three goals and six assists for 12 points, leading Sarah Lawrence to wins over Brooklyn and St. Joseph's Brooklyn.
In the Gryphons' 9-1 victory over the Bulldogs, their first-ever win over Brooklyn in school history, McBrayer recorded one goal while handing out three assists. She became the fourth Gryphon in team history to record at least three assists in a game. Of the group, she is the lone player to also notch a goal in the contest.
McBrayer followed up that performance with three more assists in the squad's 5-1 win over St. Joseph's Brooklyn, helping Sarah Lawrence clinch the No. 4 seed and an opening round home playoff game for the first time in school history. In a rematch with the Bears five days later, McBrayer scored both goals in the team's first-ever postseason victory.
McBrayer has been sensational in her first season as a Gryphon. She has started every game, and ranks second in points (35) and goals (12) and is tied for first in assists (11). Her 11 assists rank among the top of the Skyline Conference.
McBrayer becomes the sixth Gryphon in team history to earn Skyline Rookie of the Week recognition, joining Nora Burrows, and teammates Sophia Spalja,
Jordynn Figueroa,
Lauren Ashby and classmate
Kiley Ritter.
The fourth-seeded Gryphons return to the field Wednesday (Oct. 31) to take on top-seeded Farmingdale State at Rams Field.
