Women’s Soccer’s Historic Season Finishes at No. 21 Farmingdale in Skyline Semifinals

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team had its historic season come to an end Wednesday with an 8-1 loss against No. 21 Farmingdale State at Rams Field.

IN SHORT
No. 21 Farmingdale State (16-3-2) def. Sarah Lawrence (9-8), 8-1.

RECAP
Sarah Lawrence, coming off its first-ever postseason victory on Sunday against St. Joseph's Brooklyn, ends its season with a 9-8 record, its first winning campaign in school history. Picked to finish seventh in the Skyline Preseason Poll, the Gryphons exceeded expectations with their young nucleus, finishing as the No. 4 seed and earning a postseason berth and first round home playoff game for the first time in program history.

Farmingdale State, nationally-ranked for the first time in school history, scored four goals in the opening half of play. Meagan Murdocco gave the Rams a 1-0 lead 55 seconds into the match and scored again in the 12th minute. Allison Khare made it a 3-0 margin in the 29th minute, followed by a score from Alexandra Johnson in the 41st minute.

The Rams, unbeaten in their last eight contests, scored four more times in the second half.

The Gryphons lone goal of the contest came in the 76th minute, as Tiffany McBrayer, the Skyline Rookie of the Week, found the back of the net for her 13th goal of the season, becoming the first-ever Gryphon to score against the Rams. The rookie finished the year scoring or assisting in each of the Gryphons' last four games.

Farmingdale State controlled possession throughout the afternoon, posting 38 shots while limiting the Gryphons to four attempts.

It was the final career appearance for Sarah Lawrence senior co-captains Jordynn Figueroa and Sophia Spralja. The duo will graduate being a part of just the second team ever at Sarah Lawrence to qualify for postseason play and the first to ever secure a playoff win since the Gryphons moved to NCAA Division III.
