Mykyta-Chomsky Sets Personal Record at NJIT Highlander Challenge

NEWARK, N.J. – Senior Rosa Mykyta-Chomsky ran the second-fastest 5K in school history on Saturday as the Sarah Lawrence women's cross country team finished 12th among 29 squads at the NJIT Highlander Challenge at Branch Brook Park.

RECAP
Competing against Division II and III programs, Mykyta-Chomsky completed the course in 20:52. Her time trails only Mary Kauffman, who ran a 5K in 18:37 in 2013.

Molly Walsh finished the race in 21:24, followed by Jemma Fisher in 21:40. Fisher's run was the sixth-fastest performance in program history.

Isabel Edmonds crossed the finish line in 22:01, while Katherine Labadie finished the race in 22:44. Lea Perry completed the course in 26:10, followed by Caroline Beegan in 27:55. Ada Cerdan Rahola and Katherine Tinsley rounded out the Sarah Lawrence participants.

The Gryphons placed 12th among 29 teams, finishing ahead of Skyline schools Mount Saint Vincent (344) and Farmingdale State (522).

UP NEXT
Sarah Lawrence has one last race before the Skyline Cross Country Championships. The Gryphons will compete again on Oct. 13 at the 19th Annual St. Joseph's Invitational.
