NEW YORK, N.Y. – Gianna Russo found the back of the net in the final minute of play to help John Jay defeat Sarah Lawrence, 2-1, in a non-conference women's soccer contest at Randall's Island.

Russo's goal came with under 20 seconds remaining in regulation, scoring from outside the box off a pass from Mary Jo Anzano.
John Jay, who entered the day 2-0 against Skyline opponents, scored the game's first goal in the 49th minute, when Katie Healy finished in the box off a pass from Kimberly Robledo.
Sarah Lawrence continued to battle, scoring the equalizer in the 56th minute.
Kiley Ritter, who was named Skyline Rookie of the Week Monday for the second time this year, scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season, slipping a ball past the keeper inside the box off a pass from
Sophia Spralja, her team-best fifth assist of the year.
Madison Mertsch finished with a season-high 17 saves, making several tough stops. Each defense was tested, as the two teams combined for 31 shots, including 25 attempts on frame. The sophomore recorded 12 of her saves in the second half of play.
