BRONX, N.Y. – Following a 10-day layoff, the Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team returned to the pitch on Tuesday for a non-conference match at Lehman.
Kiley Ritter found the back of the net for the Gryphons, but it wasn't enough, as the Lightening held off Sarah Lawrence for a 2-1 verdict at Lehman's South Field.

Coming off a two-goal performance in the Gryphons' season-opening 6-0 win over York, the rookie scored her third goal of the season 4:03 into the match.
Sophia Spralja sent a free kick into the box, where Ritter collected the loose ball and ripped a shot past the goalkeeper to give Sarah Lawrence a 1-0 advantage.
The Lightening, coming off a 3-1 win over Maritime, scored the equalizing goal in the 37th minute, when Daisy Gomez scored off a cross from Marissa Soriano. Lehman took the lead for good right before halftime, when Emily Herrera blasted a shot just outside the 18-yard box to the far post.
Sarah Lawrence did not stop battling in the second half, putting three shots on frame, including an attempt from
Tiffany McBrayer in the 89th minute.
The Gryphons' back line held Lehman scoreless in the second half despite facing six shots.
Madison Mertsch made three saves in the match, including a critical stop on a penalty kick attempt in the 47th minute.
