YONKERS, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team defeated St. Joseph's Long Island, 3-1, on Senior Day Saturday at Fleming Field. The victory is the Gryphons' first-ever win over the Golden Eagles.

It was the Gryphons' first-ever victory over St. Joseph's Long Island, as the team entered the day 0-5 all-time against the Golden Eagles, a squad that was picked six spots ahead of Sarah Lawrence in the Skyline Preseason Poll.
Saturday's victory was win No. 6 for Sarah Lawrence, tying a program record for victories in a season.
Sarah Lawrence didn't take long to score, finding the back of the net 1:10 into the match, when
Tristan Moehs finished a rebound inside the box.
St. Joseph's Long Island, coming off a 1-1 stalemate with Maritime, tied the game at the 9:30 mark with a goal from Damian Duda.
The Gryphons regained the lead in the 21st minute, when Sarah Lawrence drew a foul in the box for a penalty kick opportunity. Moehs converted on the penalty try, giving the Gryphons a 2-1 edge.
The lone senior for Sarah Lawrence gave the crowd exactly what it came to see in the 67th minute, when Smith gave the Gryphons a 3-1 cushion on a free kick for his second goal of the season.
The two squads combined to take 25 shots in the match, including 12 attempts on target.

Aaron Ashery picked up the win in net, making four saves in the victory.
