McBrayer Becomes Program’s All-Time Assist Leader in 3-1 Win at St. Joseph’s Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Sarah Lawrence sophomore Tiffany McBrayer set the program record for assists Tuesday in the Gryphons' 3-1 victory over St. Joseph's Brooklyn at Aviator Field. With the win, the Gryphons improve to 12-4 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

RECAP
Sarah Lawrence, who recently clinched a spot in the Skyline Championship for a second straight season, battled in rainy conditions throughout the evening in a rematch of last season's conference championship first round match.

McBrayer played a role in all three Gryphons' goals, pushing her assist total to 14 on the year, smashing the previous single-season standard of 11 recorded by McBrayer and Sophia Spralja '19 a season ago. The sophomore has handed out an assist in eight games, including five outings of two or more.

McBrayer, already the team's all-time leader in points and goals, now has 25 helpers in just 33 games, surpassing Spralja's mark of 23.

Sarah Lawrence, coming off its first-ever win over St. Joseph's Long Island on Saturday, scored the game's first goal in the 19th minute, when McBrayer played a through ball to Lily Halloway, who beat the goalkeeper 1v1 for her fourth goal of the year.

St. Joseph's Brooklyn tied the match in the 49th minute with a score from Rebecca De Rosa, who fired a shot to the left post from the top of the box.

The Gryphons regained the lead in the 60th minute, when Niki Dalrymple, the Skyline Rookie of the Week for a fourth time this season, found the back of the net off a feed from McBrayer.

The duo teamed up for another score in the 70th minute. McBrayer found Dalrymple at the top of the box, where she ripped a left-footed shot into the netting. Dalrymple has five multi-goal performances this season.

Emily Cornejo improved to 9-1 overall in net, setting the single season record for keeper wins, surpassing teammate Madison Mertsch (8 – 2018).

The Gryphons have now defeated the Bears in their last three meetings, outscoring the conference foe by a 10-2 margin.

Sarah Lawrence has proven to be road warriors in 2019 improving to 6-1 overall in road contests, a team record.
