McBrayer Scores in Gryphons’ Skyline Semifinals Loss at Farmingdale State

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Tiffany McBrayer scored her 10th goal of the season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough, as the third-seeded Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team had its historic 2019 campaign come to an end, falling to second-seeded Farmingdale State, 6-1, in the Skyline Women's Soccer Championship Semifinals at Rams Field.

RECAP
Sarah Lawrence, appearing in the Skyline Women's Soccer Championship Semifinals for a second consecutive year, ends its season 14-5, finishing with back-to-back winning campaigns, including a five-win improvement from 2018. Picked to finish fifth in the Skyline Preseason Poll, the Gryphons once again exceeded expectations, finishing as the No. 3 seed and earning a second straight first round home playoff game.

Farmingdale State, unbeaten on Rams Field this season, scored three goals in the first half of play. Sarah Lawrence, who entered the match winners of six straight games, held up defensively until the 20:06 mark, when Brittany Starzee knocked in a header to the right post on a cross from Julissa Martinez.

The two-time defending league champs scored again in the 35th minute, when Edasia Martinez slotted a ball past the keeper's fingertips and into the netting. The Rams scored again 4:05 later.

Farmingdale State made it a 4-0 contest in the 58th minute with a goal from Meagan Murdocco, and scored twice more in the second half.

The Gryphons' lone goal of the match came in the 63rd minute, when Niki Dalrymple played a ball to McBrayer in stride while streaking down the field for the breakaway finish. The goal is the second ever in team history against the Rams, each coming from the foot of McBrayer.

Despite conceding goals, goalkeeper Emily Cornejo made several impressive saves in the match, finishing with a season-high 16 stops.

With the win, the Rams advance to Saturday's (Nov. 9) Skyline Women's Soccer Championship game for a fourth consecutive season.

It was the final career appearance for seniors Maddie Eppler, Andi Pfau, Emily Pressley and Madison Rosandich. The group will graduate being a part of the first-ever team at Sarah Lawrence to qualify for the postseason and win a playoff game in back-to-back seasons.
