PURCHASE, N.Y. - 13 days after breaking the NCAA Division III men's volleyball record for most kills in a four-set match, 
Nate Davis set the National Collegiate men's volleyball record for most kills in a three-set match, going for 33 in the Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball 3-0 win over Purchase on Tuesday night. 
The Gryphons now sit at 1-0 in conference play. 
"The kids stepped up. It was a great all-around game from everyone," said head coach 
Sovanny Ebbesen. 
NUMBERS
	- Davis now has 199 kills on the season. The sophomore is averaging 6.03 kills per set - the best average in the entire NCAA. 
 
	- Davis posted an attacking percentage of .444 with 54 total attacks. 
 
	- Juan Paris set a career-high in assists, tallying 34 helpers. 
 
	- Lukas Gates recorded seven digs. 
 
	- SLC notched 8 service aces as a team. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 6-5 in the first set, Sarah Lawrence put together a 9-2 run, going up 14-7. The Panthers then outscored the Gryphons 14-8, narrowing the deficit to one. SLC led 22-21. A Purchase error, followed by a service ace from 
Ralph Calle-Schulz and a kill from 
Nate Davis gave the Gryphons a 25-23 victory. 
A 20-6 second-set-opening run from Sarah Lawrence created an insurmountable lead. SLC won the set 25-14. 
SLC was down 11-10 in the third set, then scored four unanswered points, going up by three. The Gryphons maintained a slight edge the rest of the way. 
Nate Davis had 12 kills in the final set. Sarah Lawrence took the set 25-23.
