Peter Miles Scores; Gryphons Draw with Skyline-Undefeated Valiants

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team traveled to Manhattanville College on Tuesday evening to take on the Valiants, who were undefeated in Skyline play coming into the matchup. After 90 minutes of play, the two teams drew 2-2 thanks to a game-tying score by Manhattanville in the 71st minute.

Top Performers
  • Peter Miles scored his third goal of the season, giving the Gryphons a 2-1 advantage in the 61st minute
  • Keeper Kian Silva saved nine Manhattanville shots in the contest

How it Happened

The game commenced with a wild sequence in the third minute, as the Gryphons forced a turnover deep in Manhattanville's defensive zone and after the ball was put into the box in front of a couple Gryphons, it was a failed clear attempt by a Manhattanville defender that found the back of the net and gave Sarah Lawrence a 1-0 advantage. Neither team would register a score for the remainder of the half, with both teams registering seven shots and Manhattanville leading the way with four corner kick opportunities compared to just one for Sarah Lawrence.

At the beginning of the second half, the Valiants knotted the game up with a goal by Manuel Morales in the 47th minute. The aforementioned Miles would give the Gryphons their second lead of the day, taking a Leon Bronshvag pass from another costly turnover by the Valiants and getting past the keeper from close-range. After holding the lead for nearly ten minutes, the Valiants struck once again, this time from right inside the box, lofting the ball over the keeper into the corner of the goal. The two teams remained tied for the final 18 minutes and change, with a key save by Silva in the 81st minute protecting the draw.
