Gryphons Secure Second-Straight Undefeated Skyline Season; Blank Yeshiva 7-0

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team secured their second-straight unbeaten Skyline regular season on Tuesday evening with a 7-0 victory over the Yeshiva Maccabees.

Top Performers
  • Ava Warren opened the scoring for the Gryphons before adding a second goal in the 12th minute
  • Natalia Chow provided two insurance goals for the Gryphons later in the first half
  • Alyssa Kleine found her fellow senior Chow for her second goal of the contest

How it Happened

The Gryphons got their offense going early, scoring twice in the first five minutes. The aforementioned Warren scored first in the third minute while fellow first-year Delaney Julianna followed suit less than a minute later, taking a pass from Margaret Robarge and finding the bottom right corner of the net open. Another first-year got in on the scoring action, as Maria Corina Fernandez joined her teammates in the scoring column to give Sarah Lawrence a 3-0 lead. Warren would score her second goal of the game in the 12th minute, as teammate Sydney Olken put a beautiful ball in front of the first-year who snuck the ball into the top left corner for her second score of the day. With a 5-0 lead, Chow would register her first two goals of the season, the first unassisted and the second via an assist from Kleine, who found her fellow senior for her second score of the day. Goalkeepers Maya Pfeiffer and Bridgette Lee combined for another clean sheet as the Gryphons allowed just five goals in Skyline play this season.

Up Next

The Gryphons (12-4-3, Skyline 9-0-2) will return to play next Wednesday, November 1st, as they host a Skyline semifinal matchup. The Gryphons will be the top seed in the tournament and will have a first-round bye, excluding them from this Saturday's quarterfinals. The Gryphons will host the winner of the 4th and 5th seeded teams, which have yet to be determined.
