How it Happened
The Roadrunners got ahead early by a score of 11-2 and would not look back, allowing the Gryphons to string two or more points together just once throughout the whole set and eventually taking a 1-0 lead in the match. The second set saw the Gryphons much more competitive early on, finding themselves down just 4-6 before two seperate five-point runs would allow the hosting Roadrunners to pull away and take the second set by a score of 25-9 and take a two-sets-to-none lead. The third and final set saw Sarah Lawrence taking their first lead of the match, getting ahead 3-2 before finding themselves knotted with Ramapo at 4 points apiece just three rallys later. The Roadrunners would then embark on a five-point run to take a 9-4 lead and despite back-to-back kills from Miles and Paris to narrow the lead to three, the hosts would respond and shut down the Sarah Lawrence rally to remain ahead through the end of the set, taking a 3-0 victory with a score of 25-14 in the final set.
The Gryphons (0-19, Skyline 0-14) finished the 2023 season playing their best volleyball over the final two weeks of the season, including narrow 3-2 defeats at the hands of both St. Joseph's Brooklyn and Yeshiva, while bringing Mount Saint Vincent to four sets on March 25th.
