MILTON, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence Cross Country teams had their first meet of the season on Friday evening, running in the New Paltz Invitational at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome. The women's team earned a team finish of fifth place and the men's squad finished in 10th place.

Top Performers

• Maya Pfeiffer paced the women's team with a time of 31:46.0, the 19th best time in the race
• Senior Leo Kalotihos had the best individual finish for the Gryphons, completing the 8k course in 30:32.9, the 12th best time in the event

Kalotihos paced the Gryphons' entries in the 8k event, with Aiden Roney and Isaac Gaber also turning in top-50 finishes. Roney finished the course in a time of 36:40.8 and Gaber was right behind the Lexington, Virginia native with a time of 37:53.1. Lucas Murray and Zeke Ash rounded out the group of SLC runners in the 8k race with top-65 finishes. Murray completed the course in 39:37.8 and Ash did so in 44:12.1.

In the 6k race, Pfeiffer led the way with her top-20 time, with Al Sinclair and Kailee Call also crossing the line within the first 30 runners. Sinclair finished the race in a time of 34:25.3 and Call crossed the line 30 seconds later, finishing with a time of 34:57.9. Ali Xhafa and Hazel De Lara also finished the race with top-55 times, Xhafa coming in 32nd with a time of 35:34.9 and De Lara rounding out the SLC runners with a time of 43:10.3.

The Gryphons will make their next appearance at the MSMC Knight Invitational on Sunday, September 24th. The event will be on the same Milton, N.Y. course as this race and the event will begin at 11:00 a.m.
