KINGS PARK, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's cross country team earned a second-place finish at the St. Joseph's Invitational on Saturday as five top-25 finishers led the Gryphons. The team was also the top DIII program in attendance, as Division II Pace University won the meet, and the top Skyline school in a field that featured four conference opponents.

Ali Xhafa led the Gryphons, finishing in 15th place with a time of 23:38.4. Caitlin McCabe was right behind, finishing 16th with a time of 23:55.0. Al Sinclair and Sadie de Beer placed 20th (24:38.1) and 21st (24:42.9) respectively. Ella Beesley rounded out the top five, finishing 25th in 25:21.6. Rosalyn Tiblier and Kate Hansberry finished in sixth and seventh respectively with times of 26:13.4 and 27:46.0 to score for the Gryphons and add two more top-50 finishers.

Haley Balka led the next group of SLC runners to cross the line as the first year finished in 28:10.8. Teona Conevska followed Beesley closely with a time of 28:21.2 and teammate Jessica O'Donnell clocked in at 29:20.8 just under a minute later. A trio of Gryphons rounded out the team's effort. Mauli Chopra finished at 31:06.4 while first-year runner Genevieve Clark recorded a time of 31:10.4. Maddie Thompson, the women's team's lone senior this season, wrapped up the team's efforts at 31:31.0 for a top-80 time on senior day.

The Gryphons will return to action next at the Skyline Conference Championships on Sunday, October 3rd. The meet will take place at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. and the Gryphons will look to cap off their impressive season with a strong performance.
