FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's cross country team finished in fourth place at the Skyline Conference Championships on Sunday, with a pair of all-conference runners leading the pack and eight top-50 runners in total. The Gryphons have now wrapped up their 2024 campaign after earning three trophies this season, including a first-place result at the Purchase Invite in September.
Captain
Ali Xhafa led the team, securing a Skyline All-Conference Second-Team bid with a 9th place finish after crossing the line with a time of 27:21.8, followed by
Caitlin McCabe in 13th at 27:47.7, who joined Xhafa on the second team.
Sadie de Beer finished 22nd in 29:28.9 and
Al Sinclair came in 29th with 30:29.2.
Rosalyn Tiblier placed 31st at 30:39.8 while
Kate Hansberry took 41st with 32:37.8.
Jessica O'Donnell and
Teona Conevska followed in 47th (33:42.5) and 50th (33:52.4), respectively.
Haley Balka crossed the line in 56th at 34:56.5, while
Maddie Thompson finished 59th in 35:56.3, with
Ella Beesley just behind in 60th at 35:58.7.
Mauli Chopra placed 66th in 37:10.8, and
Genevieve Clark rounded out the team, finishing 67th with a time of 37:22.4.
The Gryphons had one of the best seasons in the program's recent history, earning the aforementioned victory at Purchase as well as a second-place finish at the St. Joseph's Invitational and another podium finish at the Queensborough Invite in October. Xhafa and McCabe both earned a spot on the all-conference teams for their performances in Sunday's race and Xhafa was also named to the Skyline's All-Sportsmanship team for the 2024 season.
