POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence cross country teams traveled upstate for the Vassar Season Starter on Friday, with the women's team taking down the 3k course and the men's team running the 4k course. Both teams finished seventh place overall while boasting a top-40 runner in each race. A full list of results for the meet is available on both the men's and women's cross country schedules.

Sadie de Beer led all Gryphons on the 3k course with a time of 14:32.8, good for 40th place. De Beer was followed by a quartet of Gryphons, as Caitlin McCabe, Ella Beesley, Ali Xhafa and Al Sinclair crossed the finish line right behind de Beer and in the above order. To round out the scorers for SLC, Kate Hansberry and Haley Balka took home 47th and 48th place with times of 17:53.5 and 18:07.4 respectively. Rosalyn Tiblier, Mauli Chopra, Genevieve Clark, Maddie Thompson, Nazira Atalla and Natalie Flores rounded out SLC's finishers on the day.

In the 4k race, Thomas Matonti led the way for SLC, completing it in 16:41.0 and taking home a 39th-place finish. Matonti was followed by fellow first-year Gavin Wright before Aiden Morel, Noah Carey-Smith and Nat Skoczenski rounded out SLC's runners. Wright completed the course a little under 30 seconds after Matonti and just over the 17-minute mark while Morel, Carey-Smith and Skoczenski all crossed the finish line before the 19-minute mark.

The Gryphons will return to the trail next weekend as both teams head to Purchase College for the Purchase Invite. The first race of the day will begin at 9:00 AM as the Gryphons face their first Skyline opponents of 2024.
