BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's volleyball team totaled 18 aces and swept the visiting Eagles of Saint Elizabeth University on Thursday evening. The Gryphons won by set scores of 25-13, 25-12 and 25-13 as they moved to 6-4 in 2026.

  • Aidan Roney totaled five aces while adding in four kills and three digs
  • Jackson Perhaes led all players with five aces in addition to a pair of kills and a block
How it Happened
The Gryphons were rolling from the onset, with Aidan Roney securing a kill of a free ball to give the hosts a lead. The teams traded kills before a Cahill score tied the match at five and started a four-point swing capped by an ace by the first year. The Eagles stopped the run, but errors by the visitors coupled with aces from Alex Xie and Roney kept the Gryphons in control. Four consecutive scores at the service line by Perhaes a few moments later put the hosts up 22-10 with a first-set victory in sight. A trio of late St. Elizabeth errors gave the Gryphons a first-set victory and set the tone for the remainder of the match. The second set similarly started with a Roney kill, this time followed by a kill and ace from Perhaes to keep the team in the lead. Cahil, Mikel Miller and Ethan Look all tallied mid-set kills while back-to-back aces from Look helped the Gryphons to a 16-6 advantage. Cahill and Xie each added a pair of kills to put the Gryphons ahead 22-11 moments later while Miller followed up a late-set kill with a set-sealing ace to give the hosts a 25-13 victory. The final set started with a Saint Elizabeth error, followed by another early-set kill by Roney to put SLC up 2-0. Xie added a pair of aces to put SLC up 4-0 to start the set. Another kill by Miller put the team up 8-4 before a serving string by Roney put the team up 13-4, including three aces by the senior. Cahill and Xie added kills down the stretch while Saint Elizabeth errors put the Gryphons up 23-12. Roney added another ace to put the team at match point before Xie found Perhaes for a match-ending kill to move the Gryphons above .500.
