NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference named Sarah Lawrence first year
Jack Cahill the Men's Volleyball Player of the Week as well as Rookie of the Week after a tremendous two matches. The first year averaged 25 kills per match for SLC, but it was a 40-kill effort in the team's five-set victory over St. Joseph's Brooklyn (SJBK) on Saturday that positioned Cahill for the pair of awards.
The Brooklyn product excelled in his home borough on Saturday, hitting .356 against the Bears on 87 total attempts, bringing his season total to a Division-III leading 11.70 per set. Cahill accounted for nine of the team's eleven fifth-set kills, hitting .533 in the frame to complete the team's come-from-behind effort and give the Gryphons an important conference win over SJBK. The first year also played well on the defensive end, leading the team with 15 digs while accounting for just a single receiving error on 28 reception attempts. Cahill now owns three Skyline Rookie of the Week awards and a Player of the Week award, ranking fifth in the country in kills per set and eighth in points per set along with his top mark of attacks per set.
