BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's volleyball team went toe-to-toe with the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's Long Island early before falling in three sets to the defending Skyline Champions. The Gryphons got an efficient 17-kill performance from first year phenom
Jack Cahill in the loss.

- Alex Xie totaled 27 assists in addition to six digs and two blocks

How it Happened
The Gryphons used an SJLI error and an
Aidan Roney kill to jump ahead 2-1, but the visitors quickly catapulted themselves into the lead with a 7-0 run. Another Roney kill as well as an ace by the senior got the Gryphons back within three moments later, staying within reach of the leading Golden Eagles. The visitors withstood kills from Cahill and
Mikel Miller, holding a 15-10 advantage midway through the opening set. Roney and
Jackson Perhaes added kills before a trio of conversions by Cahill brought the SJLI lead down to four points. The visitors took the next three points to open up a 22-15 advantage while late kills by Miller and Cahill would not be enough to bridge the gap. The second set saw the Golden Eagles go up 6-1 and carry the lead throughout the set. Look, Miller and Cahill all added kills to stay within reach, as the Golden Eagles led 14-7. The next seven points went to the visitors, allowing SJLI to withstand an ace and a kill from Look late in the set and take a decisive second-set victory. Another early-set run by the visitors put the Gryphons on the back foot, with a 12-3 SJLI lead. Xie and Roney combined for a pair of blocks down the stretch while Miller and Perhaes added one of their own, but the visitors would complete the sweep with a 25-19 third-set victory.
