PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College cross country teams returned to competition Saturday, Septmber 12, competing at the Purchase College Invitational. The women's team placed ninth out of 11 teams with 186 points, while the men finished 12th with 268 points in the 6K race.

Junior Whitney Hall paced the Gryphons in the women's 4K, earning a top-10 finish while recording a career-best time of 17:18.4. Hall crossed the finish line ninth overall among 93 competitors.

Junior Isabella Moya followed with a career-best performance, finishing 33rd in 19:29.2. Senior Kate Hansberry made her collegiate debut with a 55th-place finish in 21:14.8, while junior Kenedy Nutter also made her collegiate debut, placing 69th in 23:10.3.

Junior Ella Langford rounded out Sarah Lawrence's scoring five, finishing 73rd in 23:28.4.

On the men's side, junior Gavin Wright led the Gryphons across the line, placing 64th in 26:02.7. Junior Thomas Matonti finished just behind Wright in 67th with a time of 26:10.5.

Seniors Ivo Duwin and Aiden Morel finished 79th and 80th, respectively. Duwin crossed in 27:35.0, while Morel posted a career-best time of 27:42.2. Freshman Hezekiah McCoy rounded out the Sarah Lawrence lineup, placing 81st in 27:45.8 in his collegiate 6K debut.

The Gryphons return to action on Saturday, September 26, traveling to Stony Brook, N.Y., for the Golden Eagle Invitational, hosted by St. Joseph's University-Long Island. The race is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
