NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Skyline Conference announced its Week 2 weekly awards, with three Sarah Lawrence College student-athletes earning major honors and five additional Gryphons being named to their respective honorable mention teams.

Freshman Rhys Roberts of the men's soccer team was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week for the first time in his career after playing all 180 minutes in a pair of draws against Brooklyn College and SUNY Canton.
The defender made his first collegiate goal count, scoring the equalizer in the Gryphons' 1-1 draw against SUNY Canton in the team's home opener. Roberts and the Gryphons return to action tonight, Sept. 14, when they host Medgar Evers College at 7 p.m. in a non-conference matchup at Fleming Soccer Field.

Freshman Kai Perkins was named the Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week after helping the Gryphons post a 2-1 record on the week.

Sarah Lawrence opened the week with a 3-1 loss to Stevens, with Perkins recording 15 digs, three assists, one kill and one service ace. The Gryphons then responded with back-to-back sweeps of Bard College and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at the Bard tri-match.

Perkins tallied 11 digs and three assists against Bard before posting 15 digs and four assists against MCLA. She finished the week with 41 digs, 10 assists, one kill and one service ace.

The honor marks Perkins' first Skyline Rookie of the Week selection and her second weekly conference honor, after she was named to the Week 1 Honorable Mention Team.

Juniors Nikolet Vataj and rookie Caroline Combs were also named to the Week 2 Honorable Mention Team.

The Gryphons return to action Tuesday, Sept. 15, when they travel to Baruch College for a 6 p.m. non-conference match at the Campbell Sports Center.

Senior Neomi Spellman was named the Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Gryphons to a 5-2 victory over Lehman College on Thursday, Sept. 10.

Spellman teamed with Josephine Jackson for a 6-2 victory in the No. 1 doubles match before earning a 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 2 singles match.

The weekly award marks the first Skyline Conference honor of Spellman's career.

Freshman Isabelle Ng was also named to the Week 2 Honorable Mention Team.

Women's Tennis returns to action Thursday, Sept. 17, when the Gryphons travel to York College (N.Y.) for a 4 p.m. non-conference match.

Women's soccer senior Stella Sturgill was named to the Skyline Conference Week 2 Honorable Mention Team, while Whitney Hall of women's cross country also earned honorable mention recognition.

The five honorable mention selections, combined with the three major weekly awards, give Sarah Lawrence eight Skyline Conference honorees for Week 2.
