BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College women's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Brooklyn College on Tuesday, September 22, at the Sarah Lawrence Courts.

The Gryphons secured the team victory by winning five of six singles matches after giving up the doubles point to Brooklyn.

Sarah Lawrence opened the match with a win at doubles 3, as Serafina Panuccio and Carolina Gherardi cruised to a 6-1 victory over Kristen Vega and Shyla Selby.

The Bulldogs answered with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take a 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.

The Gryphons responded emphatically in singles competition, winning five consecutive matches to secure the team victory.

At No. 2 singles, Neomi Spellman battled back after dropping the second set to defeat Aniyah James, 6-3, 0-6, 7-5.

Isabelle Ng followed with a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles, defeating Amara Stewart, 6-3, 7-5.

At No. 4 singles, Panuccio posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Vega, while Gherardi delivered a dominant performance at No. 5 singles, defeating Tiffany Edwards, 6-1, 6-1.

Elena Valente rounded out the scoring for Sarah Lawrence at No. 6, defeating Amar Abdel Gaphar, 6-0, 6-3.

The Gryphons return to action Saturday, September 26, at 3:30 p.m., taking on Mount Saint Vincent in Skyline Conference action. The match will be hosted at Lehman College, with Sarah Lawrence serving as the visiting team.
