NEW HAVEN, CONN. – Senior Katey Beaver made Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer history Friday, September 4, scoring twice to become the program's all-time leader in career goals as the Gryphons battled Albertus Magnus to a 2-2 draw on the road.
The result moves Sarah Lawrence to 1-0-1 on the season.
Beaver's second goal of the night, which came in the 83rd minute, was the 32nd of her career, moving her past Hannah Chafin's previous program record of 31 goals, set from 2022-25. The senior also recorded her sixth goal of the season.
The Gryphons controlled much of the match statistically, holding advantages in shots (9-5), shots on goal (6-5), and corner kicks (5-3). Sarah Lawrence also generated the majority of the early offensive pressure, with Barker registering the first shot of the match in the third minute before Lucia Folkert added another attempt less than a minute later.
Albertus Magnus recorded its first shot in the 13th minute, but junior goalkeeper Bella Vaca was there to make the save. Vaca played all 90 minutes and finished the evening with three saves.
Sarah Lawrence broke through in the 35th minute when rookie Charlotte Callicott connected with Beaver, who buried the opportunity to give the Gryphons a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. The assist was Callicott's second of the season.
The Falcons responded early in the second half, scoring off a corner kick in the 48th minute to level the match.
With the game approaching its final minutes, the Gryphons regained the advantage in the 83rd minute. Senior Emma Mangan set up Beaver, who found the back of the net for the second time on the night and etched her name into the Sarah Lawrence record book. The assist was Mangan's first of the season and fifth of her career.
Albertus Magnus answered just three minutes later, scoring in the 86th minute to bring the match level at 2-2.
The Falcons nearly found a late winner, hitting the post with their final shot in the closing minute, but the Gryphons held on to secure the road draw.
Sarah Lawrence returns home on Wednesday, September 9, hosting CCNY at Fleming Soccer Field for a Domestic Violence Awareness match. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
