Gerald Frieri joined the women’s soccer program at Sarah Lawrence College as assistant coach in 2024. This marked a return to college athletics for Frieri after a successful 17-year period of coaching at premier clubs and high schools across the Hudson Valley. During this time, he coached at Yorktown HS, Brewster HS, and Briarcliff HS. Frieri is also an active senior leader with Yorktown Soccer Club, where he is the director of coaching, a board member, and a coach for multiple award-winning teams.
Frieri found a perfect fit with SLC’s talented, ambitious, and high-achieving student-athletes. He brings a unique set of coaching philosophies which includes a steadfast commitment to continuous player development, while also ensuring the personal well-being of each team member. Frieri has a strong track record of rejuvenating teams. He coached 3 undefeated EPL seasons at Yorktown Soccer Club and in 2022, contributed to an undefeated season at Yorktown High School. In 2023, his U16 boys’ team at Yorktown Soccer Club won the prestigious Potomac Memorial Tournament. Frieri is passionate about collaborating across the soccer community to help others realize success in the sport and has developed strong relationships with a network of coaches across the tri-state area.
Frieri has a US Soccer Federation-National Goalkeeping License and an NSCAA coaching license. He is known by his peers and players for results-intensive game day strategies and applying successful changes in sync with the evoluton of the game. Prior to joining SLC, he helped develop 6 award-winning (All League) College Goalkeepers and a New York State Goalkeeper of the Year.
A soccer enthusiast and player since early childhood, he progressed from local youth teams in the New York City area to College All League star at SUNY Westchester Community College (WCC). He was subsequently recruited at the age of 23 to the assistant coaching position for men's soccer at WCC, his catalyst for a future career in coaching. Frieri has an Associate’s Degree inTelecommunications from SUNY Westchester Community College
