The 2016 season will be coach Unity Beddingfield's fourth year at the helm of SLC women's soccer. She also serves as the department's Event Coordinator, overseeing management of all home athletic contests.

In the team's first varsity season, Beddingfield led the 2013 squad to a winning conference record (3-2-1) and a semifinal berth in the HVIAC Championship tournament as the tournament's No. 3 seed.

With the College's transition to the Skyline Conference in 2014, the squad handled the additional pressure by matching its win total from '13. The team avenged its 2013 loss to York College (N.Y.) with a 2-0 shutout in '14.

In 2015, the Gryphons earned their first Skyline victory, one of a program-best four wins that season. SLC earned three shutouts and held its opponents to 40 percent fewer goals than the previous season.

Beddingfield has over two decades of playing experience and has coached the sport for more than 10 seasons. Most recently, she comes to SLC after spending one year as head coach for the NCAA Division II Vulcans of University of Hawai’i at Hilo.

Beddingfield also served as assistant coach at San Bernardino Valley College, where she helped the Wolverines to a 15-6-3 record in 2011. In addition, she completed a brief stint as an assistant coach at her alma mater, California State University, San Bernardino. There, her Coyotes went 3-0-2 during the spring season. Previously, she coached the Arroyo Valley High School team for seven years.

Beddingfield has seven years of experience in personal training and recreation. She graduated from CSUSB with bachelor’s degrees in exercise science and pedagogy.

As a player, Beddingfield was a varsity soccer, basketball and track & field athlete in high school. At Cal State San Bernardino, she was a three-year player and two-year starter, leading her 2009 squad in assists. After graduating, she spent two years playing for the Claremont Stars of the Women’s Premier Soccer League.
