Kristin Maile took the helm of the department as Director of Athletics and Physical Education in June 2012.

In early 2013, Maile led Sarah Lawrence through its application to join the Skyline Conference. After a process that lasted several months, the Gryphons were unanimously accepted into the league and began competing in the Skyline in the 2014-15 academic year.
In October 2016, Maile was inducted into the Northeast Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. She was honored for her high-school and collegiate playing career as well as for her countless contributions as a coach and administrator at the collegiate level. At Cedar Crest, Maile's department was awarded three NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women’s Internship grants as well as an NCAA Strategic Alliance Matching grant. She also served on the Cedar Crest College's Master Planning Committee, Administrative Council Steering Committee as well as the Communications Commission. She was on the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Marketing Committee, Year of Service Committee and was the Sport Chair for Field Hockey.
Before joining Cedar Crest, Maile functioned as Associate Director of Athletics at Wellesley College from 2002 to 2006. She was the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Sport Chair for Women's Basketball.
Maile’s background is highlighted by a twelve year coaching career, including seven seasons (1995-2001) as volleyball head coach at The University of Scranton. She earned MAC Freedom Conference Coach of the Year honors in 1999 and 2001 after leading the Royals to league championships and NCAA Championship berths. While at Scranton, Maile founded and directed Club NEPA, the first USAV juniors program in Northeastern PA.
Maile returned to coaching during her time at Cedar Crest, earning her 200th career win in the process.
