Dig Pink Brings in Funds and Fans to Match Against CNR

Bronxville, NY - October 24, 2011

Pink proliferated in the crowd tonight as fans filed in for the "Dig Pink" women's volleyball match against College of New Rochelle at the Campbell Sports Center.
In front of a crowd of about 50 spectators, the women's volleyball team swapped out their traditional white and green home jerseys for pink uniforms. For the past several weeks, the team has been raising funds to benefit breast cancer research and at last tally, had raised over $1,330 in funds going into tonight's match. Even more was raised during the games as prizes from generous sponsors and local merchants were raffled off to the crowd.
On the court, College of New Rochelle won in straight games 3-0. Despite the loss, the Gryphons put up some crowd-pleasing plays that brought the pink-clad fans to their feet. Gryphon Kathryn O'Sullivan led the team in digs with eight for the night and tied with teammate Jenny Sharp (Harpswell, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) with four kills a piece.
The Gryphons next don their regular season forms to play in the Conference Championships, held at the Campbell Sports Center on October 29, at 6pm.
