BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Picking up the team's third-straight win, Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball defeated Brooklyn College, 3-0, in a non-conference match at Noyse Court at Campbell Sports Center on Friday.
Sarah Lawrence (13-11) improved to 9-1 on its home court, while Brooklyn (3-13) has lost three matches in a row.
The opening set saw Sarah Lawrence win the first nine points of the match, including two on Gryphon blocks. First-year player
Jomana Abdallah (Anaheim, Calif., Fairmont Prep Academy) contributed back-to-back kills to make the score 17-5 before Brooklyn went on an 8-2 run to close the gap to 19-13. Sarah Lawrence closed out the 25-18 set on Abdallah's fourth kill of the match.
In the second set, Brooklyn took an early lead at 6-4, but a four-point run by the Gryphons erased the deficit. Later, with Sarah Lawrence down 9-7, the Gryphons went on a 12-2 tear, advancing the score to 19-11. The Green and White scored five of the last six points in the set, closing out a 25-16 stanza.
Four early service aces helped Brooklyn keep the match in check in the third set, as the teams found themselves tied at 11-11. From there, the Gryphons began to pull away with their balanced attack as Abdallah and sophomore
Kitty O'Sullivan (Los Angeles, Calif., Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy) each notched three kills in the set. Sarah Lawrence closed out the 3-0 sweep by winning the final set, 25-22.

Brooklynn Moore (Oakland, Calif., Santa Catalina) tallied 22 assists and a match-high three service aces.
For Brooklyn, Jillian Escobar (Queens Village, N.Y., Francis Lewis) led her squad with five kills, while Alicia Sanchez (Astoria, N.Y., William C. Bryant) and Kayla Scurry (Brooklyn, N.Y., School for Research) had six digs apiece.
Sarah Lawrence heads to Bard College for a tri-match on Saturday. The Gryphons face the host Raptors at 11 a.m. before taking on University of Saint Joseph at 1 p.m.
