NEW ROCHELLE—After recording top times in all 11 events of the day, Sarah Lawrence College women's swimming defeated Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) rival College of New Rochelle, 151.5-47.5, at CNR Wellness Center on Wednesday.
“This was a great tune up meet for us,” reflected Head Coach
Eric Mitchell. “The meet was the final step in training for our mid-season invitational this weekend. We had a good opportunity to see exactly where everyone is at in training before we head to Drew.”
After Sarah Lawrence (3-1, 1-0 HVWAC) won the 200 yard medley relay, sophomore Gryphon
Jay Pulitano (Mountain Lakes, N.J., Mountain Lakes) won the 1,000 yard freestyle by a margin of more than two and a half minutes. He also picked up a win in the 100 yard butterfly.
In the 500 freestyle, sophomore
Alexis Bates (Morristown, N.J., Morristown) set a new program record with a swim of 6:01.59, taking her second distance record of the season and beating the four-year-old mark of 6:03.09. Bates also posted a 50-free winning time of 29.15.
Sophomore
Ariana Peschke (Topanga, Calif., La Reina) took first place in the 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke, while rookie
Sam Amberchan (Menlo Park, Calif., Menlo-Atherton) came out on top in the 100 yard freestyle.
As a foursome, Pulitano, Bates, Peschke and Amberchan won the day's final event with a victory in the 200 yard freestyle relay.
