Box Score
BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—Backed by a team-leading six service aces and seven digs from sophomore Xina Graham-Vannais (Newtown, Pa., George School), Sarah Lawrence College women's volleyball swept visiting Purchase College, 3-0, in a non-conference match on Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Thursday evening.

Sarah Lawrence (4-8) snaps a two-loss streak with the win, while Purchase (1-9) remains on a seven-match skid.

In the opening set, first-year player Zoë Spanbroek (Boca Raton, Fla., Saint Andrew's) notched a pair of early service aces to help the Gryphons to a 6-2 lead. Sophomore Alexis Chapman (Bend, Ore., Bend) also scored back-to-back aces as Sarah Lawrence held its advantage at 12-7. The Panthers closed the gap at 13-11, but senior setter Brooklynn Moore (Oakland, Calif., Santa Catalina) served four straight rallies to increase the Sarah Lawrence advantage. Graham-Vannais served three aces late in the set, as Sarah Lawrence closed out the 25-17 set with a 6-0 run.

The second set saw the Panthers open up a 6-2 lead early, but consecutive aces from Graham-Vannais helped Sarah Lawrence even the score at 6-6. Spanbroek contributed a pair of aces to get the Gryphons a 16-11 edge, but it was first-year player Jomana Abdallah (Anaheim, Calif., Fairmont Prep Academy) who led all players with four kills in the set. Graham-Vannais again clinched the set with a late streak, adding six points in the team's final term of service in the 25-19 set.

In the third set, Purchase once more took an early lead, as freshman Megan Toole (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) served up five unbroken service aces en route to a 8-2 Panther lead. The Gryphons kept their composure, however, as a 7-1 run by the hosts knotted the set at 9-9. Graham-Vannais tacked on four kills in the set while sophomore libero Molly Busk (Corbett, Ore., Corbett) tossed up a pair of service aces. Purchase held on long enough to tie the set at 19-19, but Graham-Vannais had the honor a final time, as she clinched the 25-20 set and completed the 3-0 sweep.

Graham-Vannais led all players with six aces, and her seven digs were best among Gryphons. Moore totaled a match-high 15 assists, while Abdallah had a match-leading seven kills.

For Purchase, Jenna Nardi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) equaled Abdallah's seven kills, and Maggie Brenenestuhl (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley) duplicated Moore's 15 assists. Libero Cyndel Hernandez (Bronx, N.Y./H.S. for Environmental Studies) topped all players with 10 digs.

Sarah Lawrence next heads to nearby College of New Rochelle for a non-conference match on Friday at 7 p.m.
