NEW YORK—Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer player Sadie Zavgren (Wilton, N.H./Homeschooled) has been named Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the period ending October 20, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Zavgren played a critical role on offense and defense in a 1-0-1 week of HVIAC play. In the backfield, the rookie captain anchored a defense that played two scoreless games and held opponents to a combined two shots on the week. On Wednesday, Zavgren notched her first career goal, the Gryphons' second in a win over Medgar Evers. She played complete games in both contests.

Sarah Lawrence women's soccer faces Yeshiva University on Tuesday with a HVIAC tournament berth on the line. The Gryphons conclude their regular season on Saturday with a home showdown against Fisher College (Mass.) at 4 p.m.
