WEST POINT, N.Y.—Sarah Lawrence College women's crew made its 2013-14 season debut at the West Point Head Race on Saturday. The Gryphons entered two boats, competing in Novice 8+ and Varsity 4+ races.
In the Novice 8+, the Green and White were the third boat across the line, finishing the 5K course in 20:33. SLC's Varsity 4+ boat took 13th place in its race, completing the race in 25:56.
The event featured teams from Fordham University, Iona College, Marist College and host United States Military Academy. Both boats faced difficult weather conditions, including winds and choppy waters. Adding to the difficulty, the fours events were disturbed by wakes from heavy traffic on the Hudson.
Sarah Lawrence crew next competes on Saturday at the Navy Day Regatta, hosted by St. Joseph's University on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa.
