Mat Gerak (Monroe, Conn./Masuk), Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball defeated Pratt Institute, 64-49, in a non-conference game at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Friday.
Sarah Lawrence (1-3) has now won its last three meetings against Pratt (2-3), as well as its last three home openers against the Cannoneers. The Gryphons led from start to finish and capitalized on depth by scoring 42 points from the bench.
Sophomore
Wyatt Rocheleau (San Jose, Calif./Christopher) scored the first three points of the game. Classmate
Stevan Radosavljevic (Lazarevac, Serbia/Grammar School Lazarevac) followed by contributing six of the Gryphons' next eight points, giving SLC a 15-6 advantage.
Gerak got in the scorebook with a pair of converted free throws and two layups for six of his eight points in the half. Senior co-captain
Josh Niebloom (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och Academy) sank a pair of three-pointers to add a half-dozen points in the period.
In the closing seconds of the first half, rookie
Andre Garibaldi (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) sank a layup to give the Gryphons a 36-25 halftime advantage.
Rookie
Malin Segal (Marblehead, Mass./Concord Academy) tallied the first points of the second half with one of his two three-point baskets on the day. Gerak's hot day continued as he scored six of the next dozen points in the game; he had seven in the half.
With a layup and two free-throws, Segal scored four of his 10 second-half points over the span of a minute and a half. He later added a three-pointer to give the Green and White their largest lead at 61-41.
In the half, rookie
Logan Dubek (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) scored five points on two field goals, including one from beyond the arc, while sophomore co-captain
Graham Gilleran (San Francisco, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) scored four points.
Gerak accompanied his team-high 15 points with three steals and a pair of rebounds. Segal totaled 14 points with five assists and two boards.
Radosavljevic contributed eight points and collected four rebounds. Dubek finished with seven points and a game-high four steals. Garibaldi recorded a team-high eight rebounds to go with a pair of blocks. Sophomore
Ege Ozcan (Istanbul, Turkey/Andrews Osborne Acad. (Ohio)) also got in the scorebook with four points.
For Pratt, Khari Jones led all players with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Andrew Yaglenski also reached double-figures with 13 points.
Sarah Lawrence takes a week off and returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 29, at Gallaudet University.
