NEW YORK-A quartet of Sarah Lawrence College swimmers collected weekly accolades from the Skyline, as announced by the league on Monday.
Colette Harley (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) and
Cameron Martinez (Aledo, Texas/Aledo) took Women's and Men's Swimmer of the Week honors, while
Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School) and
Albert Riley (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson) were tabbed Women's and Men's Rookie of the Week.
Harley earns her first major award of the season, having been named Women's Swimmer of the Week. The sophomore won both the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.05) and 500-yard freestyle (6:04.42) events on Nov. 21 as Sarah Lawrence notched victories over Maritime (116-88) and St. Joseph's-L.I. (123-78). She also swam a leg on the Green and White winning 200-yard medley relay (2:03.62).
Lawson's Rookie of the Week selection is her third of the season. The first year placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (59.56) and broke her own school record in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.83) she also joined Harley in the winning 200-yard medley relay (2:03.62).
Martinez was named Men's Swimmer of the Week for the third time this season. The junior won both the 100-yard butterfly (52.68) and 200-yard individual medley (2:02.37) events in a dual meet against Maritime on Nov. 21. He swam a season-best time of 23.76 in the opening 50 free of the Green and White 200-yard freestyle relay. Martinez was one of only two swimmers in the meet to win a pair of individual events.
Riley earned his third-straight Men's Rookie of the Week accolades. After placing second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.10), he avenged his loss by winning the 500 freestyle (5:19.83), touching the wall first by a half-second margin. Riley also swam a leg on the Gryphons' third-place 200 freestyle relay.
