Box Score BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—With the Gryphons making their conference debut, Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball fell to St. Joseph's College Long Island, 72-46, in a Skyline game at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Tuesday.
Sarah Lawrence (1-5, 0-1 Skyline) tied the score three times in the early goings, as the teams crept out to a 6-6 start. St. Joseph's (2-4, 1-1 Skyline) pulled away with a 16-2 run, and held a double-digit lead for much of the first half. Six straight points for SLC, including back-to-back layups by sophomore
Mat Gerak (Monroe, Conn./Masuk), cut the deficit to eight, 30-22, at halftime.
SJC sealed their victory by scoring the first 10 points of the second period while holding the Green and White to 24 points in the half.
For SLC, sophomore
Stevan Radosavljevic (Lazarevac, Serbia/Grammar School Lazarevac) led the way with nine points and nine rebounds, while co-captain
Graham Gilleran (San Francisco, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) scored eight with three assists and four boards.
Gerak finished with seven points and six rebounds, and five other Gryphons scored at least four points.
Sarah Lawrence heads to College of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday before returning home to host Connecticut College on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m.
