Men's Basketball Takes on Knights in Skyline Tilt

Box Score NEWBURGH, N.Y.—While the Gryphons led after the first 11 minutes, Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball was taken down by Mount Saint Mary College, 83-63, in a Skyline game at Kaplan Recreation Center on Monday.

Sarah Lawrence (1-11, 0-6 Skyline) overcame an early five-point deficit to take its first lead at 13-12, helped by seven early points by Jeff Jordan II. Co-captain Graham Gilleran (San Francisco, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) scored four points early, while rookie Andre Garibaldi (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) scored the go-ahead basket. With little more than nine minutes to play, SLC took a 20-18 edge, again on a Garibaldi field goal.

Mount Saint Mary (4-8, 3-2 Skyline) tied the game 15 seconds later, and a 12-0 run sealed the Knights' advantage.

Sophomore Stevan Radosavljevic (Lazarevac, Serbia/Grammar School Lazarevac) came alive late in the half, scoring nine of the Gryphons' last 11 points in the half, recording his best scoring production in a single period this season. With the late rally, the deficit was cut to eight at the intermission, 43-35.

In the second half, the Knights scored eight points on their first three possessions, accruing a 16-point lead.

Gilleran, Radosavljevic and Jordan accounted for 18 of the first 20 Gryphon points in the second half. Sophomore Wyatt Rocheleau (San Jose, Calif./Christopher) added a bucket to total seven on the day. Down the stretch, Garibaldi scored his fourth basket of the day, while Christian Moraros (Brooklyn, N.Y./ELEV|8 Academy) scored the last four points for the Green and White.

Behind Jordan's team-high 14 points, Gilleran's nine second-half points brought him to 13, while Radosavljevic also scored 13 for a new season high.

As a team, the Gryphons scored a season-high 18 points from the foul line, averaging 72 percent as a team. Gilleran (3-for-3), Radosavljevic (3-for-3) and Mat Gerak (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) (2-for-2) were flawless at the charity stripe.

The Green and White held a +3 edge in rebounding, led by Rocheleau, Gilleran and Ege Ozcan (Istanbul, Turkey/Andrews Osborne Acad. (Ohio)) with five boards each.

For the Knights, Connor Nicholson (19 points) and Daniel Wolff (18 points) led all scorers, while Jason Oder had a game high six rebounds.

Sarah Lawrence returns home to host Farmingdale State College on Wednesday. Tipoff at Campbell Sports Center is slated for 5 p.m.
