Box Score NEWBURGH, N.Y.—While the Gryphons led after the first 11 minutes, Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball was taken down by Mount Saint Mary College, 83-63, in a Skyline game at Kaplan Recreation Center on Monday.
Sarah Lawrence (1-11, 0-6 Skyline) overcame an early five-point deficit to take its first lead at 13-12, helped by seven early points by Jeff Jordan II. Co-captain
Graham Gilleran (San Francisco, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) scored four points early, while rookie
Andre Garibaldi (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) scored the go-ahead basket. With little more than nine minutes to play, SLC took a 20-18 edge, again on a Garibaldi field goal.
Mount Saint Mary (4-8, 3-2 Skyline) tied the game 15 seconds later, and a 12-0 run sealed the Knights' advantage.
Sophomore
Stevan Radosavljevic (Lazarevac, Serbia/Grammar School Lazarevac) came alive late in the half, scoring nine of the Gryphons' last 11 points in the half, recording his best scoring production in a single period this season. With the late rally, the deficit was cut to eight at the intermission, 43-35.
In the second half, the Knights scored eight points on their first three possessions, accruing a 16-point lead.
Gilleran, Radosavljevic and Jordan accounted for 18 of the first 20 Gryphon points in the second half. Sophomore
Wyatt Rocheleau (San Jose, Calif./Christopher) added a bucket to total seven on the day. Down the stretch, Garibaldi scored his fourth basket of the day, while
Christian Moraros (Brooklyn, N.Y./ELEV|8 Academy) scored the last four points for the Green and White.
Behind Jordan's team-high 14 points, Gilleran's nine second-half points brought him to 13, while Radosavljevic also scored 13 for a new season high.
As a team, the Gryphons scored a season-high 18 points from the foul line, averaging 72 percent as a team. Gilleran (3-for-3), Radosavljevic (3-for-3) and
Mat Gerak (Monroe, Conn./Masuk) (2-for-2) were flawless at the charity stripe.
The Green and White held a +3 edge in rebounding, led by Rocheleau, Gilleran and
Ege Ozcan (Istanbul, Turkey/Andrews Osborne Acad. (Ohio)) with five boards each.
For the Knights, Connor Nicholson (19 points) and Daniel Wolff (18 points) led all scorers, while Jason Oder had a game high six rebounds.
Sarah Lawrence returns home to host Farmingdale State College on Wednesday. Tipoff at Campbell Sports Center is slated for 5 p.m.
