Meet Results

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.—In the Gryphons' final home meet of the season, Sarah Lawrence College women's swimming won six events en route to a 116-80 victory over College of Staten Island in a non-conference meet at Campbell Sports Center on Saturday.

With the win, Sarah Lawrence (6-2) clinched a winning season with two dual meets remaining. Staten Island (5-6) will finish no better than .500, snapping a streak of back-to-back winning seasons.

In the day's first event, sophomore Gabby Risica (Narragansett, R.I./Narragansett) led off the 400 yard medley relay with a season-best split time of 1:09.06 in the 100 backstroke. Rookie Hannah Lawson (Portland, Ore./Pacific Crest Community School) and sophomores Colette Harley (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) and Jacqueline Quirk (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) rounded out the foursome, winning the relay in 4:28.99.

Senior Alexis Bates (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) began her final home meet by taking second place in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 20:29.45. Along the way, she split a season best 12:23.66 over the opening 1000 yards. Sophomore Sky Mihaylo (Albany, Ore./West Albany) garnered third-place points with a season-best of 27:37.20.

Lawson handed SLC its first individual win of the day, touching the wall first in the 200 yard freestyle. Her time of 2:12.19 was three seconds better than teammate Quirk in second place. Senior Sonia Abraham (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) placed sixth in the race.

The 50 free saw Risica notch her first individual win with a time of 27.92 seconds. Making her collegiate swimming debut, rookie Leah Myrtil (Boston, Mass./Elizabeth Seton Academy) posted an effort of 28.23 for second place. Fellow rookie Zoe Berg (Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale) scored a point in fifth place.

Junior Sam Amberchan (Alameda, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) paced the Gryphons in the 400 individual medley, taking second place. Rookies Elizabeth Kroll (Sacramento, Calif./The Met Sacramento) and Sarah Schnapp (Taiwan/Tzu Chi) made their collegiate debuts in the event, earning third and fourth place, respectively.

The 200 butterfly saw Harley cruise to victory. The SLC record-holder in the event won by 15 seconds in a time of 2:34.87, while sophomore Lydia Mullan (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) placed fourth.

Risica's final race of the day saw the sophomore win the 100 freestyle in a time of 1:02.56. Bates placed second with a season-best performance of 1:03.59, while Berg again scored for the Gryphons in fifth place.

The 200 backstroke saw Amberchan place second followed by Myrtil in third place.

Sarah Lawrence clinched victory after the Gryphons returned to their winning ways in the 500 freestyle. Harley won event (6:14.61), while Schnapp made her debut in the event with a third-place swim, and Abraham was fifth to finish.

In the 200 breaststroke, the day's final solo race saw Lawson, Quirk and Mihaylo finish back-to-back-to-back, securing second through fourth place.

The 400 freestyle relay featured second and third-place finishes by Green and White quartets. Myrtil, Bates, Schnapp and Amberchan swam to second place, while foursome Kroll, Mullan, Mihaylo and Abraham captured third place.
